Choosing "Make a copy" saves your work, creates the duplicate and takes you straight to it in the same tab, instead of relying on a pop-up window that browsers, the workspace shell and the apps silently blocked. The canvas status bar also stops showing a permanent "Loading layer…" message when no layer is selected.
