It covers both versions of Connect: the one in the Chrome Web Store, and the downloadable one that is also built into Automo Browser. Where they differ, we say so. Your Automo account and workspace are covered by our main Privacy Policy at automo.ai/privacy.
Where Connect works
- Chrome Web Store version: Connect reads pages on linkedin.com, and on automo.ai to sign you in. On any other site, it reads a page only when you ask about it or when a schedule or page watch you set up runs, and only that tab.
- Downloadable version: Connect reads pages on LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, Reddit and TikTok, and can work on any site you ask Mo to work on.
What Connect reads and sends to Automo
- The profile, company or post you're viewing. When you're signed in and the panel is open on a profile, Connect automatically sends the details shown on that page to your Automo workspace, to check whether the person is already in your CRM. These are details such as name, headline, company, location, bio and profile address, plus an email address or phone number if the page shows one.
- Research, summaries and drafts are sent only when you ask for them. A contact is saved to your CRM only when you click Save.
- If you start an engagement campaign, Connect drafts a comment for the post in view without waiting for a click.
- Your conversations with Mo. When you message Mo, Connect sends your message, the recent conversation and your time zone. Unless you remove it, it also sends the address and title of the page you're on.
- When you ask Mo to work on a page, Mo reads that page's text and may take screenshots of it, to decide its next step. To research a question, Mo can read up to 10 web pages, up to 4,000 characters from each.
- Connect only runs in incognito windows if you allow that in Chrome. Even then, Mo will not send from an incognito tab.
- Files you attach. You can attach up to 5 files: PDFs up to 5 MB and images up to 3.5 MB. They are uploaded to My Files in your Automo workspace so Mo can use them, and they stay there until you delete them.
- Your voice. When you press the microphone, Connect records up to 2 minutes of audio. Our speech-to-text provider turns it into text, and Automo does not keep the audio. The text appears in the message box for you to edit and send, and a spoken campaign brief is saved, as text, with that campaign. Connect never listens unless you press the microphone.
- Screen recordings (downloadable version only). If you start a recording, Connect records that tab's video, without audio, and optionally its console and network logs, then uploads them to your Automo workspace. The Chrome Web Store version cannot record.
- Your Automo sign-in. Connect signs you in with your Automo session, read from an open automo.ai tab (in Automo Browser, from the browser's own sign-in). It keeps the session on your device and sends it only to Automo, with each request.
What Connect does on pages
- Mo can click and type on a page you ask it to work on.
- Mo always asks you before it sends, posts, publishes, replies, shares, connects, invites, submits, buys or deletes anything.
- Mo never fills in password or card fields, and never acts on banking, payment or government sites. In "Look only" mode it does not act at all.
- What you schedule only reads and never acts: up to five Mo schedules (daily or weekly) and up to three page watches, each checked at most once an hour.
- Connect places a draft you approved on the page only when you press the button to post it.
- Downloadable version only: if you switch on autopilot for a campaign, Connect can post comments for you, up to a daily limit. Autopilot stays off until you switch it on.
What stays on your device
- Your browser's extension storage keeps your sign-in and settings, Mo's conversation and schedules, the most recent screenshot Mo took, recent research results for up to 40 pages, and your active campaign.
- Signing out or switching accounts clears your workspace data from the extension. Uninstalling Connect removes all of it.
Only in the downloadable version
- It uses Chrome's debugger access to click and type for Mo, and to capture the console and network activity of the tab Mo is working on.
- It has permission to read cookies, used only by a testing tool that shows the active tab's cookie names and a short preview of their values. Nothing in Connect's interface opens that tool.
- If you turn on a campaign's daily discovery, Connect opens background tabs once a day on the sites that campaign searches (such as LinkedIn, Reddit, search engines, G2 or Hacker News), reads the results to find people and posts, and sends them to your Automo workspace. It also revisits comments it posted, to check replies, and drafts follow-ups for you to approve.
- Automo's service can send page scripts that run on the page Mo is working on, and page selectors that tell Connect where to find buttons and fields.
What Connect does not do
- It does not sell your data or share it with advertisers.
- It does not use your data to decide creditworthiness or for lending.
- It does not track your browsing history or record your keystrokes. It reads pages only as described above.
- It has no analytics or crash-reporting tools, and its diagnostics never leave your device.
Where data goes
- Connect sends data to Automo over encrypted (HTTPS) connections: to Automo's AI service at mo.automo.ai and to your Automo workspace. Apart from loading the pages it reads or works on for you, the Chrome Web Store version sends data only to Automo.
- Automo uses AI and speech-to-text providers to process your requests. They handle your data only to provide the feature, as described in our main Privacy Policy.
- To answer questions about the web, Mo searches through Automo. If that search can't answer, the Chrome Web Store version does not search the web. The downloadable version may instead search Google, Bing, DuckDuckGo or Hacker News directly, which sends the search words to that service.
- The downloadable version checks automo-browser.automo.ai for a newer version at most every 6 hours. That check carries no account information.
Data retention
- What you save, including contacts, campaigns, attachments and recordings, is kept in your Automo workspace under your account's retention settings until you delete it.
- Automo does not keep voice audio.
Your choices
- Close the panel, or sign out.
- Remove a page from Mo's context.
- Set Mo to "Look only", or delete its schedules.
- Uninstall Connect from chrome://extensions.
