Owners and admins used to see active Approve buttons on their own leave in HR > Leave > Approvals, so a payroll-affecting record could be signed off by its own requester. Approve is now disabled on your own request with a clear "Needs another approver" label, and the server refuses it too. The one exception is a workspace where nobody else can approve at all: there the approval still goes through and is recorded in the approval history as a self-approval, so the audit trail shows what happened.
