Signing in on a single-page app, a slow site, or one that asks for a verification code afterwards used to make the browser decide the sign-in had failed, so it silently threw the save away. It now watches the exact box you submitted, and after a page reload it tells a real verification step from the same login box coming back, so it only offers to save a password the site actually accepted.
