Your number settings, a contact's SMS tab and the send dialog now say whether the AI will text back and, if not, why, calls on the number go somewhere else, calls are turned off, no AI agent is chosen, auto-replies are off, or a teammate has taken over the conversation. The auto-reply switch really turns AI text replies on and off, and the settings warn you when a saved switch hasn't taken effect yet. Each message shows which numbers it went between, AI replies are labelled, and new replies appear in the conversation the moment they arrive.
