Set a tab on the ruler in a document, press Tab, and the text jumps to that marker the way it does in Word — including centre, right and decimal tabs, and the dotted leaders used in tables of contents. Stops belong to the paragraph, so they follow the text, survive saving and reopening, and travel both ways through Word documents and PDF exports.
