The call control bar used to sit on top of the message box, so the send and attachment buttons could not be tapped, and on a phone there was no way to send a message or switch conversations until the call ended. The chat now makes room for the call bar, so the composer, the bottom tabs and the new-message button stay reachable throughout a call, in the main conversation and in threads.
