in the presentation editor you can drag a photo onto the slide or straight into an image frame, and right-clicking a picture or frame and pasting swaps the clipboard image into it instead of stacking a new element on top. The design editor gained the same right-click paste-into-frame behavior, and image placeholders there get an Upload image action.
