Dragging the sides of an auto-width text box turns it into an auto-height box that wraps at the width you chose, and dragging the height or a corner of an auto-sized box keeps exactly the size you set instead of snapping back to fit the text. The layout panel shows the updated mode, and you can still switch modes any time.
