Claiming a hosted address used to set the sender name to the raw address handle, so recipients saw something like "qa0041" in their inbox instead of your name. New mailboxes now use your profile name by default, existing ones have been updated where the handle was still in place, and you can still set a custom name per mailbox in Mail settings. Shared and department mailboxes keep their own names.
